How to take care of your hair properly

How to take care of your hair properly

In the age of blowout bars, extreme dye jobs, and perms (yes, they're back!), it's not a question of if your hair is damaged but of how bad the situation really is. Before you start feeling hopeless because you'd sooner sell your soul than give up your flatiron, consider that even wrecked hair can be revived with a few sneaky little adjustments to your routine, according to scientists. But before we explain how to take care your hair, let us find out what is the purpose of our beautiful hair. The hair found on the head serves primarily as a source of heat insulation and cooling (when sweat evaporates from soaked hair) as well as protection from ultra-violet radiation exposure. So, in short, we do not just damage our hair by using harmful products or using any styling device. Hair is damaged if we do not use protective products on it. To prevent this, finding the right products for your hair is a must. You may need to know these best hair care tips, so you can create a hair regimen that gives a big impact and help you achieve healthy locks.

Tip 1: Wash your hair properly. We were taught before to wash our hair at least twice or thrice a week to keep the natural oils in our hair. That’s spot on. But that does not apply to those who are living in an area exposed to high humidity environment or pollution. It’s a must to wash the hair daily to prevent dandruff and scalp irritation, and of course, to keep your hair healthy and lovely. The same applies to those who have greasy hair. Washing hair daily can help reduce excess oils coming from the scalp. Pro tip: It is never recommended to wash your hair using hot water. If you do so, your hair to dry out and become brittle. Worse, it can result in hair fall. Always use cold water to close cuticles and lock the moisture in each strand of hair.

Tip 2: Protect your hair from heat damage. If there’s a sunscreen for the face and skin, there’s also a heat protectant spray designed specifically for our hair. It is important to apply it on our hair since it helps prevent heat damage that can be caused by the exposure to the sun and heat styling tools. This product is usually applied before styling or blow-drying your hair.

Tip 3: Take care of your scalp too. Make it a habit to scrub your scalp, but in a gentle way. Scrubbing it roughly is not helpful and it’s not advisable because it will cause redness to your scalp. The correct way to wash your scalp is to rub it in small circles gently using your finger pads. That should remove shampoo and conditioner residue, dirt, and excess oils. After doing that, rinse well with cold water to close the hair cuticles.

Tip 4: Lessen the use of heat styling tools. Some of us may be using heat styling tools every day to style our hair. But if you want to have frizz-free hair, use a heat-free styling technique. What we are saying is you can do a messy bun or a simple braid hairstyle. If you really need to use a heat styling tool to achieve your ideal hairstyle, make sure to use a heat protectant spray.

Tip 5: Trim your hair regularly. If you want to get rid of any broken and damaged hair or split ends, it is advised to trim your hair at least once every 2-3 months. Though trimming your hair doesn’t make it grow quickly, it will help reduce flyaway and prevent breakage. Without split ends and fly away hair, your tresses will look healthier, thicker, and shinier.

Tip 6: It is ok to let your hair down. Who wouldn’t love to wear a ponytail hairstyle? We all know it’s so perfect for summer days because it keeps the hair off our faces and necks. It works best when we do weights at the gym. Unfortunately, wearing a tightly pulled ponytail can cause hair damage or permanent hair loss. To reduce the damage, just don’t do a ponytail, especially when wet.
